UNOH Falls to Concordia 1-0

LIMA, OH - The #11 UNOH (2-1, 2-1) women's soccer team hosted Concordia (5-3, 5-2) Tuesday, March 9, at Racer Stadium and was unable to find the back of the net losing 1-0.

It was the first goal given up by the Racers this season, but it turned out to be a decisive one. In the 75th minute of a scoreless match, the ball was played on goal by Concordia's Samantha Golchuk. It took a deflection off the Racers goal keeper, Ilke Brandsma (FR/Partij, Netherlands ), and ended up in the bottom corner of the net.

The match was thoroughly controlled by UNOH for most of regulation. The Racers managed to rack up 14 shots with 4 on goal, but the Cardinals keeper had a brilliant performance in front of net, keeping UNOH off the scoreboard. The Racers played well defensively, only giving up 3 shots in the game with 2 on goal, including the game winner. UNOH also recorded 5 corner kicks while only giving up 1 in the match.

Sometimes you play well and don't score. So was the day for UNOH.

The Racers will be playing at the Total Sports Complex on Friday, March 12, where they will take on Aquinas. It will be a noon varsity start with JV to follow.
