UNOH Shines Again in Home Opener

LIMA, OH - UNOH picked up their second win of the week, taking down Mount Vernon Nazarene 2-1 in the 2023 home opener.

The Racers dominated possesion early on and found paydirt first in the 12th minute. Minni Laukka laid up to Alejandra Gomez Nogueras who sent a short cross into the box. Lorna Campos vollied with her left foot, putting the ball up and over the keeper for the first goal of the match. The Cougars leveled the score in the 32nd minute to send the game into the locker room at 1-1. UNOH continued to control the pace of the game racking up ten more shots in the second half. The game winner came off a penalty kick in the 52nd minute after Rhiannon O'Looney beat her defender and was brought down in the box. O'Looney stepped to the spot and sent the keeper the wrong way, finishing on the bottom corner for the 2-1 lead. The Racers allowed just three shots the rest of the match to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Racers outshot MVNU 20-7 in the game and 9-5 on goal. 

Sophia Eisner made four saves over 90 minutes in front of goal for the Racers.

UNOH will head to (RV) Taylor next to take on the Trojans at Turner Stadium Wednesday, August 30.
