San Filippo Earns WHAC Defender of the Week Honor

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has named Northwestern Ohio's Gianna San Filippo the Defender of the Week for the week ending September 29.

San Filippo had a monster week at the net racking up 29 block assists and three solo blocks that included the program's single-match record for assists with 15 against Lourdes. She averaged a remarkable 3.20 blocks per set over three matches helping the Racers go 2-0 in conference play.

The junior middle blocker has lived up to her title this season logging a program record 118 block assists with twelve regular season matches left to play. San Filippo leads the country with 133 total blocks this season averaging 1.55 blocks per set, third best in the nation. She has been the primary role in helping her Racers into the No. 2 spot in the nationally with 203 total blocks.
