LIMA, OH - No. 25 UNOH scored three in the first and two in the second for a comprehensive 5-0 win over Cornerstone on Saturday.
It didn't take long for the Racers to get on the board netting the first in the fifth minute. Kristine Mehlbye won the ball off a Cornerstone throw in and passed to Jasmin Tadina. Tadina sent a perfect through ball on her first touch that split two defenders and linked with Mathilda Berg Karlsson. Karlsson flicked the ball past the keeper first time and put UNOH up 1-0. Goal two took longer to produce but it came off some brilliant dribbling by Inga Ehrenfried. Ehrenfried took the ball on the wing and beat her defender between the legs keeping it on the ground across the box. Natalia Lima backheeled her first touch to Minni Laukka who finished under the keeper into the bottom corner in the 32nd minute. Ten minutes later, the Racers added a third off a Minni Laukka corner kick that took one bounce in the box before being headed off the keeper and into the net by Janne Frauenpreiss.
After leading 3-0 at the break, UNOH started the second half the same way they began the first netting goal number four in the 51st minute. A long ball from Inga Ehrenfried found Anne Sjolte behind the defence where she finished one-on-one with the keeper. The final goal came with just ten seconds remaining in the match with another long pass, this time from Nanna Rosengreen, that linked with Vivian Purmonen behind the backline who won another one-on-one with the keeper to cap the game at 5-0.
The stingy UNOH defense allowed just two shots on the day with just one on goal putting eight of 15 of their own on target.
Sophia Eisner (7-3-2) picked up another clean sheet working 76 minutes and making one save. Silje Eikeland finished the final 14 minutes but was not needed in front of goal.
WHAC No. 2 UNOH (9-3-2, 7-1-0) will take on No. 3 Siena Heights (9-2-3, 6-1-1) at Racer Stadium on Wednesday with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 PM.
