LIMA, OH - UNOH scored three goals in the first half and one in the second while picking up their first clean sheet of the season against Governors State.
The Racers notched their first of the day after a handball in the penalty box set up a spot kick in the 18th minute. The keeper guessed right, but Minni Laukka put the ball out of her reach and into the back of the net. Seven minutes later, it was Minni Laukka again putting a corner kick into the middle of the box where Judy McIntosh skied and headed the ball into goal. Almost exactly seven minutes later, Inga Ehrenfried connected with Nanna Rosengreen on a long distance cross that gave the keeper no chance. Despite more chances for UNOH, the next 15 minutes didn't produce a goal and the first 45 wrapped up at 3-0.
An early second half foul set up a free kick from near midfield giving Janne Esther Frauenpreiss an opportunity to use her power to send the ball into the box. The kick went untouched through all the players around the goal and caught the keeper off guard. She attempted to kick the ball away but it was unsuccessful as it bounced through and into the net. The Racers continued to pressure their attacking third, but they couldn't come up with another goal as the game wrapped up at 4-0.
Nanna Rosengreen put both of her shot attempts on goal while Natalia Lima Da Silva placed two of four on target.
Freshman Silje Eikeland (1-0) picked up a clean sheet in her first collegiate start working all 90 minutes and making one save.
As a team, UNOH racked up a season high 23 total shots putting ten on goal while holding the Jaguars to just one on target and only four total attempts, both season bests.
UNOH will remain home for their third straight match when they take on No. 17 Marian on Saturday, September 7 at 1:00 PM.
