Racers Remain Unbeaten After 1-1 Draw at Taylor

UPLAND, IN - UNOH women's soccer fell short of their third consecutive win to start the season but managed to stay undefeated after earning a 1-1 tie at (RV) Taylor.

Despite the Trojans controlling most of the possession in the first half, the Racers took advantage of their lone corner chance late in the period. Minni Laukka took the kick and put the ball in the middle of the box. It richocheted around and landed at the feet of Janne Esther Frauenpreiss. Frauenpreiss took the chance with the keeper off her line putting the ball in the opposite bottom corner for a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute.

The game took an unfortunate turn when Racer keeper Sophia Eisner was injured in an early collision to start the second half. She managed to make one more save before exiting but was unable to continue in the match. Backup Mireia Queralt took her place but Taylor took advantage of a cold keeper. In the 68th minute, the Trojans knotted things up at 1-1. Queralt did her part to keep the game tied with two saves down the stretch, and both teams remained undefeated at the final horn.

For Frauenpreiss, it was her second goal of the season after scoring the first of her career in the season opener.

Sophia Eisner made five total saves in her 53 minutes of work. Mireia Queralt (0-0-1) gets the decision after giving up the tying goal while making two saves to preserve the draw.

UNOH will enter their toughest stretch of games on the schedule facing top ten teams, including last years National Champions and runners-up, in three of the next four matches. First up is #7 UT-Southern with the programs meeting for the first time. Racer Stadium will be the site on Sunday, September 3, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 PM.
