LIMA, OH - UNOH women's basketball matched the program's best ever start Thursday night leading wire-to-wire in a 91-54 win over Miami-Middletown.
The Racers stormed out of the gate lighting the board with 34 points in the first quarter and shooting 62% as a team while holding the Thunderhawks to just ten points. UNOH was able to coast through the rest of the night shutting down the opposition and pulling away for a 37-point win.
Alysia Lawson paced the game with a dazzling 39 point performance, the program's second best single game performance behind only her own record of 43 set last season. Lawson shot 14-25 (56%) from the field with a career high eight pilfers matching the program's second most in a game. Ana Montero Sanz and Danajah Peterson each chipped in eleven points with Jayci Allen adding ten. Montero finished the night with a game high seven assists while J. Allen pulled down seven rebounds.
Alayha Allen came off the bench to score six points and grab seven rebounds of her own while logging another multi-block night, her third in four games this season. With her two blocks, A. Allen takes over the program's top spot all-time with 60 over just 32 games toppling the previous record of 59 set in 2011 (Molly French - 115 games)
All ten participating Racers got into the scoring column as the team shot 45% from the field and 39% from three-point while holding Miami-Middletown to 34% and 14%. UNOH scored 47 points off 36 forced turnovers racking up 23 steals, the program's second most ever (29 - 2009).
At 4-0, UNOH matches the program's best ever start (2009-2010) and will look to make history on Saturday with a trip to the Doty Center to face Great Lakes Christian.
