Baker Hands UNOH 2-0 Loss on Day One of NAIA Tournament

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA - SIOUX CENTER, IA - One of the hottest offenses in the country met one of the nation's top pitchers Monday afternoon in the first game of the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round in Iowa. Baker kept the UNOH offense off balance the whole game while doing just enough to stay in front in a tight 2-0 contest to start the day.

The Wildcats scored one in their first at bat adding the second run in the bottom of the fourth. The Racers threatened twice, including loading the bases in the sixth, but each time were shut down without getting a runner home.

Each team recorded just four hits in the game with Hailee Edgell finishing as the only player for either team logging a multi-hit game.

Lanie Wooten (23-8) pitched the first three and a third innings to take the loss. Wooten gave up just one earned run on three hits walking three and striking out one. Karsyn McGlothen took over in the fourth and finished the final two and two-thirds in relief with just one hit allowed with one walk and one strikeout.

No. 13 Marian defeated (RV) Friends 5-4 in the second game of the day setting up an elimination showdown between the Falcons and UNOH on Tuesday, May 13 at 1:00 PM EST. The winner will have to play a second game to stay alive in the tournament and will match up against Baker at 6:00 PM EST.
