FORT WAYNE, IN - Indiana Tech entered the day on a 13-game winning streak with a perfect 7-0 conference record, but UNOH snapped that streak and traded wins with the Warriors Thursday afternoon. The Racer bats were hot in game one as they lit up the WHAC's top pitcher, Savannah Bravo, to the tune of six extra base hits and ten total hits in a 9-1 run-rule victory in six innings. Indiana Tech snapped back in game two despite UNOH digging out a 4-0 hole to tie the game and walked off the Racers 6-5.
A hit batter followed by an Anna Ankney triple got the day started for UNOH and they added a second run off an error. The Warriors answered with one in the bottom but it would be their only run of the game. Another triple and a single added one in the third and a sac bunt scored another in the fourth to put the Racers up 4-1 after four. Two singles, a double and an error helped them plate two more in the fifth before capping the game with another Ankney triple and a Dani Keighley homer in the sixth that brought in three more for a 9-1 run-rule win.
Anna Ankney matched her career best going 4-4 with four runs scored and two RBI ripping off a program record three triples. It is just the third time a Racer player has logged more than one triple in a game and the second time this season (Dani Keighley). Dani Keighley also had a big outing bringing in five RBI on 2-4 hitting. Tess Denning doubled twice to go 2-4 and Hailee Edgell also finished 2-4 in the game.
Lanie Wooten (9-5) tossed a complete game win allowing one run while scattering five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
UNOH had to play from behind for the entirety of the nightcap as the Warriors put up one in the first and three in the third to take control 4-0 after three. Finally the Racers got some help and took advantage in the top of the fourth using an error, a single and a passed ball to score their first run of the game. Tess Denning followed with her third double of the day to add a second and cut the lead back to two. Indiana Tech added a fifth in the fifth but UNOH went to work again in the sixth and ripped off two two-out doubles as well as a steal of home that tied the game a 5-5 heading into the final frame. The Warriors used a couple walks to get runners on first and second before finishing off with a double to the right center gap that walked off game two, 6-5.
Tess Denning was the only Racer with multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI to finish the day 4-7 at the dish. Dani Keighley was locked in defensively for UNOH logging a career high eight assists in the game tying the program record.
Karsyn McGlothen got the start but was forced out in the third after allowing four runs on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Lanie Wooten (9-6) took over in relief and finished the final four and a third innings giving up two runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
UNOH continues their difficult road trip this week with a trip to No. 11 Madonna on Saturday, April 5 followed by Rochester Christian on Sunday.
