Lindsey Wilson
COLUMBIA, KY - UNOH softball picked up their first win of 2025 in a single-game showdown at Lindsey Wilson Tuesday evening.
An error aided the Blue Raiders' only run of the game in the second inning putting them in front first. A leadoff double and a two-out single evened the game in the third for UNOH where the game stayed heading into the fourth despite Lindsey Wilson threatening in their half of the inning. The first two batters of the fourth went down quickly, but a walk on the third opened the door for the Racers and Hailee Edgell delivered. Edgell roped the ball to dead center and cleared the fence on a line to put UNOH up 3-1. The game got tense in the fifth as the Blue Raiders worked two runners on base with two outs, but Kiya Benschoter took over and retired the only batter she faced to work the Racers out of the jam. Lanie Wooten re-entered in the sixth and finished off six the final seven batters without issue to give UNOH the win.
Wooten (1-1) pitched six and two thirds of the seven innings scattering five hits with two walks and three strikeouts to earn her first career win.
UNOH will stay in Kentucky and travel northeast for a makeup doubleheader at Georgetown College Wednesday.
