
UNOH Blanks Aquinas to Advance to WHAC Championship
LIMA, OH - Top-seeded UNOH men's tennis had no trouble against a short-handed Aquinas team in the WHAC Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday winning 4-0 against the fourth-seed.
The Racers started the match up 1-0 due to the Saints' not having a full roster and quickly won the doubles point taking first line 6-1 and third line by default. UNOH made quick work of No. 1 and No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 to clinch the match.
Mete Koseoglu and Florian Smalto won the No. 1 doubles with Jacob Ramirez and Leandro Vera earning No. 3 doubles by default. Julian Arisio and Carlos Hernandez went unfinished in the second line but led 5-0 at the conclusion.
In singles, Koseoglu won first line with Arisio picking up third line and Smalto earning a default victory at No. 6. Hernandez, Ramirez and Vera all finished incomplete at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Hernandez led 6-0, 5-1 when the match was clinched, Ramirez was won set one 7-5, and Vera was up 6-4, 1-1.
Lawrence Tech took care of Indiana Tech 4-0 in the other semifinal matchup setting up a championship bout between the No. 11 Racers and (RV) Blue Devils on Wednesday. UNOH and LTU will play for the tourament title at 1:00 PM on April 23 at Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.
