Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Denison Invite

GRANVILLE, OH - UNOH men's tennis began their fall portion of the season at the Denison Invitational taking place Saturday and Sunday September 7-8. The Racers competed against NCAA Division III representatives of No. 1 Chicago, No. 4 Case Western Reserve, No. 8 Denison, No. 25 Kenyon and No. 28 Washington and Lee.

UNOH boasted singles wins five times over Chicago and three over Case Western Reserve with one over each Kenyon and Denison. I doubles, the Racers recorded two wins over Case Western Reserve and Washington and Lee with one over Kenyon.

Lucas Perez had a strong showing going 7-1 over the weekend including an undefeated 6-0 run in group play. Perez finished 4-1 overall in singles and 3-0 in doubles play. Francisco Perez Esnaola finished the invite undefeated, 5-0, going 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles along side Lucas Perez. Freshman Mete Koseoglu was 4-1 over the weekend going 2-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles with fellow freshman Florian Smalto. Smalto's performance saw him finish 3-2 overall. Carlos Hernandez and Julian Arisio also competed for the Racers but neither could pick up a win with each going 0-5 in the tournament.

 

Next up for UNOH will be the ITA Regionals taking place September 18-22 at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Indiana.
