
UNOH Takes Top Spot at Alice Lloyd
RICHMOND, KY - In their second tournament of the week, UNOH men's golf traveled to Richmond, Ky. for the Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational and lifted the team trophy with a 22-stroke advantage over second place Walters State. UNOH shot even par 280 in round one but it was more than enough for a comfortable advantage over the next closest team. The Racers then scored their second lowest team round of the season with a 275 to finish off the tournament with a 555, the team's best 36-hole event of the year.
Luke Turner picked up his second individual medal of the season taking the top spot over teammates Oscar Lind and Jose Vargas by three strokes. Turner carded a season best 66 (-4) in the first round and followed up with his eleventh sub-par round of the year with a 69 (-1) in round two for a 36-hole career best 135 (-5). Vargas and Lind both earned their third top five finish of the year in a tie for second at 138 (-2). Vargas shot a 2-under 68 in round one finishing even par in the second while Lind carded a 1-over 71 and a 3-under 67. Oliver Rogers earned his team-leading sixth top ten finish despite a tough first round going 75, 69 for a 144 (+4) and Guillermo Garron rounded out the team scoring in a tie for 15th with rounds of 78 and 71 for a 149 total.
For the second time in as many tournaments, UNOH also competed with a B-Team that used a couple strong performances to finish fourth in the field of nine teams.
Luke S. Turner led UNOH-B with his first career top ten finish shooting 72 and 73 for a tournament score of 145 (+5), good for an eighth-place tie. After struggling in round one, Jaiden Pass recovered to match his career best with an even-par 70 in the second round finishing in a tie for 15th with a 149. Adrian Martin, Zach Stechschulte and Roman Leszinske completed the team scoring for UNOH-B with tournament totals of 153, 156 and 157, respectively.
UNOH will continue their string of Kentucky tournaments to open the spring with a trip to the Oaks of London Golf and Country Club in London, Ky. for the Patriot Invitational March 31-April 1.
