Racers Open Spring with Second Place Finish at LWC Spring Invite

COLUMBIA, KY - The No. 22 UNOH men's golf team began the spring season at the LWC Spring Invitational amongst a tough field and earned a second-place finish behind host, and No. 2 team in the country, Lindsey Wilson.

The Racers shot even par 280 in round one before scoring 264 (-16) in round two, a season best and the second lowest round in program history (-19). UNOH ended with a round of 275 (-5) for a season low total of 819 (-21) and the second lowest ever in a 54-hole tournament.

As a team, the Racers posted nine rounds of sub par play led by Oliver Rogers who posted the second lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history. Rogers carded rounds of 70, 65 and 67 for a 202 (-8) and a fifth place finish. Jose Vargas finished right behind in a tie for seventh after scoring 65, 67, 71 for a 203 (-7) total. Oscar Lind also picked up a top ten finish shooting 204 (-6) after rounds of 73, 65, and 66. Luke Turner and Guilermo Garron rounded out the team scoring for UNOH with scores of 211 and 215, respectively.

The Racers also competed a B-Team and a C-Team in the tournament. UNOH-C shot a 304 in round one but powered through rounds two and three with a 289 and 284 to jump the B-Team and finish with 877 total. UNOH-B finished one stroke back after shooting 878 as a team with rounds of 293, 289 and 296. All five C-Team players shot at or below their season best with four of five B-Team players also marking new season lows.

UNOH will be back on the links this weekend with a trip back to Kentucky for the Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23.
