
Men's Bowling: Racers Win Orange & Black Classic
BEAVERCREEK, OH - UNOH men's bowling picked up their first championship of the season in just their second event at the Orange & Black Classic on October 8-9.
The Racers finished second in the qualifying round against 20 teams. UNOH scored 7897 as a team finishing behind Pikeville (8193).
UNOH headed into the tournament as the second seed and defeated seventh-seed Cumberland 182-171, 177-213, 176-155 in the quarterfinals. The Racers advanced to the championship with a win over third-seed Wright State in the semifinals 177-188, 225-188, 202-167. After top seeded Pikeville was upset in the semifinals, it only took two games for the Racers to take the Orange & Black Classic Championship, defeating fourth-seed Milligan 199-164, 152-147.
Matthew Richards continue his strong start to his campaign with a second place individual finish. Richards averaged 222 including a 265 in game five for a total of 1110. Jaxon Rickey also had a big tournament for the Racers JV team, finishing second amongst JV bowlers and sixth overall. Rickey averaged 208.8 in the tournament with total score of 1044.
The JV Racers qualified second for the tournament with a team score of 7805. UNOH beat Wright State 208-137, 174-169 in the quarterfinals but fell to Belmont Abbey 193-184, 279-168 in the semifinals.
UNOH will have one more event in October when they head back to Columbus for the Ohio Bowling Conference #2 on the 22nd.
