Men's Basketball Ends Season with Loss in WHAC Semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - UNOH men's basketball saw their season come to a close in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Semifinals Saturday afternoon with a 117-82 loss to third-seed Cornerstone.

The Racers had a hard time slowing down the Cornerstone offense from the start as they opened up a 17-6 lead out of the gate. UNOH kept fighting and pulled with seven with 7:25 left in the first half, but the Golden Eagles exploded over the next five minutes with a 23-8 run that blew the game open, 56-34, with two minute before halftime. The closest UNOH could get was 17 points in the second half as Cornerstone continued to pour it on and pulled away for a trip to the WHAC Championship on Tuesday.

Caleb Chapman led the Racer scoring with 16 points off the bench shooting 5-7 from the field with six rebounds. Alex Benson finished with 15 of his own off the bench grabbing eight boards and Antonio King tallied 14 and five.

UNOH men's basketball ends the year 15-15 overall after going 9-11 in regular season conference play, both the program's most since the 2016-17 season. The Racers also grabbed two wins in the WHAC Tournament to end the year after just two total post season victories in the program's 17 previous seasons combined. Their win over UM-Dearborn in the Opening Round marked the program's first post season win since the 2014-15 sason.

The 2024-25 Racers averaged 86.2 points per game and amassed 2,585 total points this season, both program records. UNOH also knocked down a program record 497 free throw attempts while making 918 of their field goal attempts, the second most in program history.
