SOUTHFIELD, MI - In a back and forth game, UNOH (3-8, 2-5) needed a late three pointer to tie the game and force overtime against Lawrence Tech (6-6, 3-4). The Blue Devils outscored the Racers 10-5 in the extra frame to take a 75-70 win.
After taking the lead 4-2, UNOH didn't trail again in the first half while building the game's largest lead at eleven despite a 6-0 run by Lawrence Tech to end the half. The Blue Devils continued their run into the second half with the first six points taking a 36-35 lead. The lead changed hands four more times before Trevon Wells (JR/Cleveland, Ohio) knocked down a long range dagger with 17 seconds left tying the game at 65 heading into overtime. The teams traded buckets halfway through the period and the game sat at 70-70 with just over two minutes left. After a Blue Devil three pointer, the Racers turned the ball over and Lawrence Tech iced the game with two free throws for the five-point win.
UNOH shot 45% from the field as a team and 46% from outside while holding Lawrence Tech to 39% and 26% as a team.
The Racers will open their first of five non-conference games to wrap up 2022 with a cross state trip to Ohio Christian on Tuesday, December 13 at 7:00 PM.
