Racers Split Day Two at Bryan

DAYTON, TN - UNOH baseball picked up its first win of the season in game two of a three game series against Bryan on Saturday. The Racers blanked the Lions 10-0 to start day two but came up short in game two, 6-2.

A lead off single from Nolan Hull opened the first game of the day and was followed up by two-run homer off the bat of Eliomar Otero that gave the Racers an early 2-0 lead. A RBI groundout in the third made it 3-0 before UNOH blew the game open with three more in the fourth. A double, a walk and a single brought in the first followed by a double steal that scored another and a RBI single made it 6-0. Otero blasted his second home run of the game in the sixth and another double steal added one more to make it 8-0 after eight. Hull capped the game same way he started it, this time with runners on, bringing in two to finish a 10-0 win.

Eliomar Otero matched his career high with a team best four RBI hitting 3-5 in the game. Nolan Hull also finished 3-5 with two RBI and a walk. Noah Matheson finished 2-4 with one RBI and a walk.

Five Racers combined to scatter six hits over nine innings with Edyn Barber getting the start and striking out one with one hit in the first. Jeremy Yurcak (1-0) entered in the second and tossed three innings without a hit while striking out four to earn the decision. Transfer Josh Mauney made his UNOH debut going four innings with five strikeouts allowing four hits and two walks. Noah Curi started the ninth but got into trouble with two outs but Eliott Traver came in and picked off the runner at third to finish off the win.

A lead off walk and two singles put UNOH on the board first in game two, but Bryan answered with three hits in the bottom that tied the game at one. The next two innings went scoreless before the Lions got in front with one in the fourth and two in the sixth. Joskar Feliciano got one back for the Racers in the seventh but Bryan finished off game with two more in the bottom of the frame to finish off the series with a 6-2 win.

Joskar Feliciano was the only Racer to log multiple hits going 2-4 with two RBI in the game. Nolan Hull, Eliomar Otero, Drake Miller and Seth Freeman each finished with one hit.

Andrei Gordeev (0-1) debuted with the Racers going three and two-thirds innings allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and a strikeout. Sinjon Bobolia, Brayden Lybarger and Jordan Daves combined for three and a third innings of relief before Nate Tappenden and Dean Sommer finished off the final inning.

UNOH will head back to Tennesse for week two with a four-game series against Cumberland February 8-9.
