Baseball Advances to Day Two with 7-6 Win Over Lourdes

LIMA, OH - Playing host to pod play of the WHAC Baseball Tournament, top seeded UNOH came from behind to survive day one with a 7-6 win over bottom seed Lourdes.
A lead off double and a steal set up the first run of the game for UNOH coming off a Drake Miller sac fly in the home first. Lourdes answered with five runs in the second to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the third. With one out, the Racers used a single and hit batter and a walk to load the bases in the bottom of the inning. Joskar Feliciano followed driving in two with a single to left that made it 5-3 after three. Tyler Grigalis tied the game with one swing in the fourth hitting his fifth home run of the season to right center. The Racers put up their third crooked number of the game in the home seventh with a RBI groundout from Feliciano and a Noah Hull double to take the lead 7-5. The Gray Wolves went solo yard in the ninth to get one back, but UNOH shut them down to take the win and survive to day two.
Tyler Grigalis, Nolan Hull and Tim Hanible each finished 2-4 at the plate with Feliciano leading the game with three RBI.
Blake O'Bryan got his first career start but was forced out early after five runs on four hits with one walk over an inning and two thirds. Jeremy Yurcak threw two and a third allowing just one hit with two strikeouts. Tony Manzano went hitless over an inning and a third, striking out two, with Jack Olberding striking out one of two batters faced. Eliott Traver (2-2) picked up the win with two and a third hitless innings of work that saw him strikeout three and walk three. Wyatt Johnson earned his first career save finishing the final inning with one run giving up on two hits.
With the win, UNOH advances to day two of the WHAC Tournament and will host fifth-seed Madonna who defeated fourth-seed Lawrence Tech 10-5 in ten innings. The Blue Devils went on to eliminate eighth-seed Lourdes 15-1 in the nightcap and will await the loser of UNOH/Madonna Thursday. The winner will advance to the UNOH Pod Championship at 1:00 Friday.
