LIMA, OH - UNOH shut down Aquinas in game one for a 7-0 win but the bats cooled in game two where the Racers had to hang on to win 3-2. With the pair of victories, UNOH improves to 9-0 in conference play and extends their winning streak to 13 games.
A sac fly brought in the first run of the game in the first before a four-hit second added three more. The 4-0 score held into the fifth inning where the Racers got started again with a suicide squeeze. Now with two outs, UNOH earned an RBI single to score another followed by three straight walks to plate a third. The teams combined for just one hit in the final inning and a half giving the Racers a 7-0 win.
Tyler Grigalis was a perfect 3-3 at the dish with a team high two RBI. Darius Freeman plated one hitting 2-4 in the game. Will Myklebust (4-1) went the distance for his second complete game and first shutout of the season. Myklebust scattered three hits while striking out seven and walking just one.
Darius Freeman got the Racers started on the second pitch of the game from Aquinas ripping the ball to right field for his second home run of the season. It was the only hit of the game for Freeman but it extended his hitting streak to 15 games and 23 of 25 this season. UNOH added one in the second and one in the fourth while Aquinas plated one in the fourth and the sixth. Hits were difficult to come by as the final three innings produced just two, both by the Racers giving them the tight 3-2 victory.
Joskar Feliciano was a bright spot in game two going 3-4 with one RBI. Drake Miller was the only other Racer with multiple hits going 2-4 also with one RBI. Sinjon Bobolia (3-1) earned the win with one run off three hits allowed over five innings pitched. He struck out three while walking one. Jeremy Yurcak threw three in relief giving up one unearned run off off one hit. Eliott Traver picked up his second save of the season tossing a clean ninth with one strikeout.
UNOH will end the week at Lawrence Tech (14-9, 6-2) on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM.
