LIMA, OH - On the second day of the Racer Yellow Jacket Classic, UNOH volleyball split their two matches against Brescia and IU-Northwest. The Racers opened the day with a quick 3-0 sweep of the Bearcats (25-18, 25-21, 25-11), but dropped their final match of the weekend to the RedHawks 3-1 (25-14, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22).

UNOH had a strong all around performance against Brescia hitting .264 as a team with 35 kills and just twelve hitting errors, including a .520 performance in the final game of the match. The Racers also set a new three-set record with 17 total aces.

UNOH was led from the pin again by Abigail Martin earning nine kills on 21 swings with just one error (.381). Martin added three aces to her line for a match high twelve points. Aliyah Saylor earned nine kills of her own and Gianna San Filippo hit .636 with eight kills on eleven attacks.

Savanna Reed finished with a match high 19 assists while Bailey Gregory led with eleven digs adding four service aces and two assists.

IU-Northwest built momentum with a decisive sweep over Brescia in match two and carried it into match three against UNOH taking games one, three and four.

Gianna San Filippo paced her new team for the first time this season scoring 14 points with twelve kills, two block assists and one solo. Abigail Martin followed right behind with 13 points adding twelve kills and two block assists of her own. Shamyria DuBose put together her best performance of the weekend hitting .375 with six kills on 16 swings and no errors.

Savanna Reed earned her first double-double of the season assisting 25 times with 14 digs while Bailey Gregory finished with 16 digs and added three more service aces to hold on to the team lead with ten.

"We have to play cleaner to keep winning matches," lamented head coach Josh Kreiner at the end of the day. "We made errors against IU-Northwest that limited our offensive production after playing clean all weekend. Those days happen, but we'll work on it during the week and be ready to go next time out."

Next time out will see the Racers head to Fort Wayne for the Onset Invitational hosted by St. Francis at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum next weekend. UNOH will take on Campbellsville and Oakland City on Friday, August 23 before battling with (RV) Marian and No. 20 Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday.
