ROCHESTER HILLS, MI - After a difficult week, UNOH softball got back on the winning track with a pair of victories over Rochester Christian on Sunday. The Racers poured it on in game one to take an 11-1 run-rule win before controlling game two, 8-2, to earn the sweep.
After scoring their first run in their first at bat, UNOH came alive offensively aided by six Warrior errors to score four in the second, three in the third and three in the fourth. The Racers logged ten hits and ten RBI with eight singles, a double and a home run.
Brenna Cobb was perfect at the plate for the second consecutive game going 3-3 with three RBI, three runs scored and her first career home run. Sidney Unger brought in three RBI of her own on a two-run single and a bases loaded catcher's interference.
Lanie Wooten (10-7) threw her ninth complete game of the season giving up one run on six hits with no walks and a strikeout.
The Racers got on the board first again in game two using a single and a double to bring in one in the first. Rochester Christian returned the favor in the second and took their first lead of the day, 2-1, after two. Their excitement didn't last long, though, as back-to-back home runs led off the third inning for UNOH including the first Lanie Wooten's career. A triple followed to set up a third run and the Racers were back in control, 4-2. After a scoreless fourth inning, UNOH plated at least one run in each of the final three frames to pull away from the Warrriors.
The Racers tallied their third straight double-digit hit performance with twelve hits and seven RBI with five of the twelve going for extra bases. Anna Ankney, Lanie Wooten and Dani Keighley all went yard in the game with Keighley adding a double and Sydney Shaffer ripping off her third triple of the season.
UNOH was led by Dani Keighley who hit 3-4 with four RBI in the game. Anna Ankney also went 3-4 bringing in one run and scoring three times. Brenna Cobb finished off her impressive weekend going 2-4 to give her multiple hits in three straight games and a 9-13 weekend at the dish.
Karsyn McGlothen (7-6) tossed her fourth complete game to earn the win giving up two runs on four hits while striking out four and walking one.
UNOH will begin another full week of games when they host Siena Heights on Tuesday, April 8 before traveling to Defiance Thursday, Cornerstone Saturday, and Aquinas on Sunday.
