LIMA, OH - UNOH and Taylor squared off in The Garage Monday night with an offensive display that produced 17 ties and 35 lead changes as the two teams combined to shoot 54% in the game. The Trojans had a chance to send the game into overtime with a last second shot, but the fadeaway jumper was off the mark giving the Racers their fourth consecutive victory, the program's longest streak since 2016.
For the second time in the last two non-conference games, UNOH played within two possessions of their opponent with no more than five points separating the teams at any point. It was two up for the Racers at halftime, 41-39, thanks to a three-point money shot from Ryan Archey at the buzzer. That basket turned out to be one of the biggest of the night as the two teams matched points in the second half giving UNOH the edge, 94-92, and their sixth win in seven games.
It was an incredible shooting night for Taylor as they knocked down 58% from the field and 46% from behind the arc. UNOH produced their own high quality offensive performance hitting 51% from the field, the team's best since November 7, including a season high 50% from three. The Racers hit twelve three-pointers for their third double-digit game in the last four while also finishing off 20 of 27 free throw attempts, the third 20+ outing in the last five.
Antonio King, Caleb Chapman and Ryan Archey were the game's three leading scorers all scoring more than 20 points on the night. King led the way with 26 pulling down five boards and dishing out four assists. Chapman hit a season high with 23 off the bench shooting 7-11 (64%) from the field while recording seven rebounds and four steals, both team highs. Archey finished with 21 including 4-5 from long range for his fifth straight 20-point performance and ninth of the season.
The new year will usher in the heart of the WHAC schedule for UNOH with three straight home games beginning with Rochester Christian on Saturday, January 4 followed by (RV) Indiana Tech and Lourdes.
