Baseball Rolls in Top Versus Bottom Matchup
ANN ARBOR, MI - UNOH baseball had no issues dispatching UM-Dearborn Saturday afternoon as the WHAC's top team rolled over the WHAC's bottom team 14-1 and 15-2.
It was a steady flow of offense for the Racers in game one as they hung four crooked numbers highlighted by a four-run fourth while holding the Wolverine offense at bay. As a team, UNOH logged 16 hits in the game with twelve RBI holding UMD to just three through six before giving up the only run of the game in the seventh.
Drake Miller led with four RBI going 3-5 at the plate while Noah Matheson finished a perfect 3-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Fabian Romero and Joskar Feliciano each went 2-3 in the game with Seth Freeman hitting 2-4.
Daniel Healy (5-1) picked up his fifth straight win in dominating fashion striking out eight over six innings of work while giving up just three hits and two walks. Jordan Davis tossed the final three outs giving up one run on two hits with one strikeout.
Game two saw the offense come in spurts with two six-hit, six-run innings doing most of the damage. Those two numbers came in the second and the seventh with one scored in the first and two in the sixth. UM-Dearborn scattered just five hits over the first six innings but managed three in the final frame two score their only two runs of the game.
The Racers logged their fourth double-digit hit outing in their last five games, and 14th of the season, recording 18 hits and bringing in 14 RBI. Eliomar Otero and Jacob Watson led the charge with three RBI each going 2-5 and 1-3, respectively. Fabian Romero finished 3-4 with two RBI while scoring a season best four times. Nolan Hull, Tyler Huff and Noah Matheson all recorded a multi-hit performance. Matheson's 2-4 hitting gives him five straight multi-hit games and a remarkable 13 in the last 19.
Sinjon Bobolia (5-0) stayed unbeaten after coming up one out shy of a complete game shutout. Bobolia allowed two runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Transfer Aidan Nugent made his first appearance of the season striking out the final batter of the game.
UNOH will take a brief hiatus from conference play with a single 9-inning contest at the PSM Baseball Classic against Saint Francis on Wednesday, April 9. That game will be played at Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps, at 3:30 PM as the Racers look to continue their 22-game winning streak.
