LIMA, OH - The 2024 season is officially underway, but it came with an opening day loss for UNOH at the hands of No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan. The two teams hadn't met since 2014, and it was the Wildcats coming out on top, 1-0, thanks to a late first half goal.
The first 35 minutes played dead even with the majority of the match being played in midfield. The Wildcats started to build momentum as the game got close to halftime, turning a deep turnover into the lone goal in the 40th minute.
That one chance was all IWU would need as they tightened their defense in the second half and held the Racers at bay. Sophia Eisner did her job in front of goal making six saves along the way to keep her team in the game. The Wildcat defense was smothering though, and held UNOH to just four total shots in the game.
UNOH will make their first ever trip to Holy Cross on Saturday to take on the Saints their next time out.
