Men's Golf Ends Season with Second Place Finish in WHAC Championship

AUGUSTA, MI - UNOH men's golf fell just four strokes short of a conference title Tuesday ending the year with a tough second place finish at the WHAC Men's Championship.

The Racers led by three strokes after day one putting up rounds of 300 and 287, but a windy second day made things difficult and helped the Blue Devils outplay UNOH by six strokes to steal the team title for a second consecutive season. The Racers combined for a 305 in round three to finish at 892 in the tournament as a team.

Jose Luis Vargas was two strokes away from the tournament leader carding rounds of 73, 72 and 75 for a total score of 220. Luke Turner finished three strokes back from there in third shooting 71, 73 and 79 for a 223. Guillermo Garron struggled in the round one with a 79 but made an incredible rebound in the second carding the only sub-par round of the entire tournament with a 1-under 70. Garron ended with a 75 in round three to score 224 and a sixth palce finish.

Oliver Rogers and Oscar Lind rounded out the team scoring with a 227 and 231, respectively. Rogers put up rounds of 77, 73 and 77 while Lind scored 81, 72 and 78.
