Racers Finish Regular Season with Loss at SHU

ADRIAN, MI - It was an afternoon full of momentum swings for UNOH men's basketball Saturday as they battled with Siena Heights on the final day of the regular season. The Saints managed to finally take control of the game in the second half and handed the Racers an 85-74 loss.

Siena Heights set the pace early and opened a 16-6 lead to start the day. Over the next eight minutes, UNOH got hot and stormed out to one of their biggest runs of the season, 26-9, to take their largest lead of the game with 5:09 left in the first half. That momentum came to a screeching halt, however, as the Saints ended the half on a 16-6 run of their own to go back up three, 41-38, at the break.

The Racers began the second half with a blocked shot and quick transistion dunk to make it a one point game, but Siena Heights managed to stamp out energy quickly and claimed the final big push of the game. It was a 12-3 run that put the Saints back up by double-figures with 14:48 to play and they held that cushion the rest of the way.

Ryan Archey paced the team with 20 points on 5-11 shooting and 10-12 from the charity stripe. Grant Pikkaart chipped in 15 points and five rebounds and Caleb Chapman added 13 and seven off the bench.

The loss had no effect on the final conference standings for UNOH and they will begin the WHAC Tournament as the seven-seed and host ten-seed UM-Dearborn in the Opening Round on Tuesday, February 25.
