LIMA, OH - A total of 53 runs crossed the plate Friday on a windy afternoon at Racer Field as UNOH rolled through Cornerstone 25-2 and 19-7. The two wins plus a loss by second place Concordia drops the magic number for a regular season title to just three games with six to play. They also mark the first time in program history that the Racers have finished the regular season undefeated at home with a perfect 16-0 record this year.
UNOH scored in 13 of the 14 innings played including a massive twelve-spot in the third inning of game one and nine in the third of game two. The day also featured five Racer home runs in the opener that ties for the second most ever in a game. All combined, UNOH ended the day with 37 RBI on 34 hits with seven doubles and a triple.
Fabian Romero and Jacob Watson both finished the day 5-8 at the dish driving in eight and four runs, respectively. Seth Freeman brought in five on 4-6 hitting while Noah Matheson did the same on 3-7. Freshman Kole Huffman also impressed in his collegiate debut hitting a two-run homer in his first ever at bat followed a RBI double in game two to make him 2-2 on the day.
Will Myklebuts (2-1) took the win in game one striking out seven over six innings with two runs on four hits and one walk. Sinjon Bobolia (6-0) stayed perfect on the season in the nightcap working four and two-thirds innings with three runs allowed on eight hits striking out eight without a walk.
UNOH will hit the road to finish the regular season with six straight games beginning with Lawrence Tech on Saturday, April 19 followed by Cleary and Siena Heights next weekend.
